punctuation

I feel the comma is sorely underused. Why has it been abandoned? Is it too much to hit the comma button on the keyboard? Using the shift button is not required in doing so.
I went for a walk (comma) but found no candy.
OMG!

the sign (,), a mark of punctuation used for indicating a division in a sentence, as in setting off a word, phrase, or clause, esp. when such a division is accompanied by a slight pause or is to be noted in order to give order to the sequential elements of the sentence. It is also used to separate items in a list, to mark off thousands in numerals, to separate types or levels of information in bibliographic and other data, and, in Europe, as a decimal point.

What?

I must have forgotten I have a blog. my cat is 15 years old now. no, really he is just 2-1/2. I am thinking of getting him a "companion" as people tend to call them. Another cat to keep him company. However, upon reading my past posts, I think it best to get an older cat, i.e. NOT A KITTEN! Sante D'Or Foundation has lovely photos of felines posted on their website. I plan to visit them this Friday to see if any of them would make a good match for Mr. Finch.

Since my last post 23 years ago, I have moved to Koreatown. Not Korea Town, as I am told. and I am in the process of making new curtains. I have 19 yards of fabric. yay. now if only i had the motivation to begin. i did clean the back half of my apartment (bedroom, bathroom, dressing area). the living room and kitchen are forces to be reckoned with. plan for this weekend.....clean kitchen and living room.......sew curtains. hang curtain rod......hang curtains. wish me luck?

New tablecover - Feral cat

If I had a camera I would take a picture of the round tablecover I just finished for my nightstand.
When I lived in Miracle Mile, I purchased yards and yards of beautiful, lovely, delicious smokey green silk of which I made lined curtains to dress the beautiful picture window in apartment I inhabited. Well, having since moved, I have no window for such treatments. And having some of this fabric left over when i first moved to my new apartment, I draped an oblong section over this cheap little target table I purchased and said, "there....done!" . After one year at new residence, I finally got around to sewing a damn tablecover. It took all of 2-1/2 hours and one tear-out. I ran out of fabric, but that section can face the back (it's just a small section anyway) I'm not about to tear apart those gorgeous curtains I made! The cover looks like a home-made cover, but who cares? It's silk!

Note to self: purchase camera for Chritsmas gift to self.
When visiting Mother over holidays, leave cat. forget to "pack him"

Junk in the Trunk

I'm pushing 140. good Lord.
have i ever weighed this much? who knows. i've been really wondering about myself lately, when i would kneel down to pick something off the floor and then try to get back up, my fragile knees would almost buckle under the weight. i sat on poor Atticus by accident, who only weighs 3 pounds - i was worried i had caused him internal injuries. i was sure he was dieing. i kept following him around the house watching for signs of distress, he seemed nervous and sat in his litter box.
poor thing.
i tried going to the gym last night. i drove there. got in - went to the locker room - was all excited - started to change and realized i hadn't packed my gym shorts.

Early Morning

ok so i was awakened this morning by a crazed feral cat pouncing on my head. This seems to be the newest craze going around among feral cats...from what I hear. Thankfully, it was actually time to get up and, thankfully, claws were in the retracted position.
The joys of kittenhood! I am beginning to believe Atticus may be part dog though. He chews on everything! my arms, my fingers, my toes, my ears, my purse. The plastic liner that I put in his litter box. I went in the bathroom one morning and found the plastic liner completely in disarray. shredded on the edges, pulled into the center of the box so it was covering most of the litter. I don't now how he expected to be able to go to the bathroom with his box looking like that. And now ! now! he has taken to jumping out of his box at warp speed when he is finished doing whatever he does in there, because I must say i sometimes find him playing. litter flies everywhere, his tail fuzzes to 3 times its normal size. It's amazingly humorous but quite messy, I must say.
Moving on:
I ran across these little creatures (pictured above)on knitty.com and, yes, i am a KNITTING FREAK!!! I want to make them for my kitten! i think they would make wonderful toys for him. so adorable are they. Ulterier motive ... apply bells and maybe he will bite them and not me!

Never Assume a Southerner is Unarmed

My mother always says this. She even wants a printed bumper sticker with these exact words to put on her car to warn any would be jack-asses or car-jackers to "BACK OFF". I think she should get some of those Yosemite Sam mud flaps to put on her car.....the ones with Sam and his six-shooters that all of the 18-wheelers in Texas seem to have on their back wheels. But seeing as how she drives a gold hyundai, this might not work so well for her.

Although she "doesn't do housework", I decided to knit her a dishtowel. I'm a beginning knitter and can't make much else. She could at least use it to dry her hands if they ever did get wet somehow. My first knitting project!! Given to my dear sweet mother.

It turned out total crap! I couldn't possibly send it to her. I pictured her opening the package, her excitement overflowing...digging in the box .... pulling out the dishtowel. The dishtowel with uneven edges and a million and one dropped stitches. The dishtowel whose dimensions were more that of a dust rag cut randomly from a t-shirt. I pictured her cigarette, her glass of iced tea, her puzzled expression, her ever faithful chihuahua , Jackson, at her side......"what is it?............ a dustrag?.............. a washcloth for the dog? .............. Thank heavens she doesn't live close by or I'd have to display it."

The next time I'd visit I'd find the dishtowel sticking out of the same box I'd mailed it in, thrown somewhere in the corner of one of her closets, covered in dust.

"Mama! Why didn't you use this?"

"Use what? "

"This dishtowel I made for you. It took me 3 weeks to knit this! It's my first knitting project!!!"

"What dishtowel?"

"THIS DISHTOWEL!!!!!!"

"Is that what that is?"

"YES!!!!"

"Well, I didn't know."

The yarn was great! A wonderful cotton yarn I snagged from my friend, Peggy's, "'givin' away" stash. I've now decided to make my mother some socks. At least she can hide those in her shoes.
